At Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. we help create, collect and distribute free knowledge.
In 2004, volunteer Wikipedia activists founded the non-profit association Wikimedia Deutschland in Berlin, which now consists of over 100,000 members and 160 full-time staff.
Free knowledge leads to a fairer world. Wikipedia is the most important online knowledge collection of our time. The German Wikipedia alone records almost 1 billion page views per month for a total of 2.6 million articles. We – Wikimedia Deutschland e. V. – support the volunteers of Wikipedia and its sister projects, develop free software, such as Wikidata, and advocate for free access to knowledge, the opening of education and research, and more common good orientation in data policy.
For our Team Fundraising Technology, based in Berlin, we are looking for a permanent Engineering Manager (d/f/m), part-time (20h /week), as soon as possible.
Department to lead a team of software engineers for Fundraising Technology (FunTech).
Fundraising Technology (FunTech) is our core team that supports our yearly fundraising campaign operations by developing and maintaining the underlying software to announce, alert, process, and deliver donations from our websites through the MediaWiki software platform.
This position is purely people management. You will mentor and lead the team of developers who improve the Fundraising project software, including developing and maintaining the existing Fundraising app and infrastructure and supporting the annual fundraising campaign (e.g., implementing banner designs).
They develop open-source software that puts user needs first and increases user satisfaction. Our Fundraising efforts fuel our continued work for the Wikipedia community, our large-scale software projects such as Wikidata and Wikibase, and our efforts to help secure access to free knowledge around the globe, to name a few examples.
They focus on campaign banner testing procedures and analysis, API development, and maintenance to integrate various banking and financial services with our Wikimedia websites. As the engineering manager for FunTech, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team. Your role will be to focus on our developers’ personal and team growth.
