Wildlands Engineering is seeking a motivated individual to assist our Raleigh team with a office/field engineering summer intern position. We are looking for students enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. program for civil, biological and agricultural, environmental engineering, or related applicable engineering discipline. Wildlands’ Summer Internship program offers college students an immersive experience in stream and wetland restoration. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects, develop professional skills, and gain a holistic understanding of our operations through hands-on tasks, independent research, and mentorship from industry professionals. The position is a paid, full-time, hourly internship.

Major services provided include:
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Assist with existing conditions assessment, design elements, construction document production, construction oversight, GIS mapping, monitoring and maintenance of stream, wetland, and riparian buffer mitigation projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats with individuals or groups.
2. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
3. Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Field data collection, geomorphic surveys, and groundwater monitoring.
2. Preparation of report figures in ArcGIS.
3. Preparation of construction plan sheet sets in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
4. Basic engineering analyses including but not limited to hydrologic analyses, HEC-RAS hydraulic model preparation, culvert capacity analysis, quantity take-offs, and construction cost estimates.
5. Invasive species maintenance.
EDUCATION:
Two or more years of education with a minimum 3.0 GPA and an interest in water and natural resources, habitat restoration, field assessment, and/or environmental permitting.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
Required: PC/Windows-based software experience with proficiency in Word and Excel.
Experience with surveying equipment, knowledge of various field monitoring protocols, ArcGIS and or/AutoCAD Civil 3D experience beneficial but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Up to eight hours of intermittent standing or walking outside on unleveled ground in an eight-hour workday.
2. The requirements of the job and the physical demands are frequently performed in outside weather conditions with frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions and extreme heat or cold.
