English Language Instruction Assistant for Students with Vision Impairments

Context/Reporting line:

Under the overall supervision of the Sr Programme Coordinator (Peace Bldg&Stabl), the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and the direct supervision of the Senior Disability Inclusion Assistant, the successful candidate will perform the follow deities.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the Programme Consultant to design after-school communicative English language accessible instruction materials and activities to increase the capacities and access to communicative English language for 20 students from Al Sader School Students with the support of the program consultant.
  2. Collaborate with the Programme Consultant to design summer enhancement activities and workplan for Al-Sader school students which include delivery of virtual or in-person activities – career coaching, career, games, and development activities – as well as site external education facilities. With a focus on communicative English language skills.
  3. Promote a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration among all students.
  4. Support the students with vision impairments to utilize audio resources, and audiobooks, to make written materials accessible.
  5. Assess student progress using alternative and inclusive evaluation methods, providing timely and constructive feedback to program management.
  6. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education or any related field from an accredited academic university or institute with 3 years of relevant professional experience, or
  • Completed school diploma with 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in teaching English to students with vision impairments will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies, such as screen readers, Braille displays, and accessible digital tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including persons with disabilities.
  • Experience in facilitating individual and group sessions is an advantage.
  • Experience in managing multiple tasks at the same time is a strong advantage.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
