Welthungerhilfe (hereafter: WHH) is a German private, non-profit- making, politically independent and non-denominational relief organization, which supports people living in deprivation and poverty, irrespective of the color of their skin, their religious beliefs, or their worldview. WHH is working in the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian aid, relief aid, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.

WHH implements the project- IRQ-1085 “Socioeconomic Reintegration of Al Hol Returnees and Community Members in Ninewa, Anbar, Kirkuk, and Salah Al-Din, Iraq.”, in the framework of the wider Welthungerhilfe programme funded by EU/UNDP.

WHH and AGO are proposing the Project under the program funded by the European Union (EU) and UNDP’s “Reintegration through Integrated Support and Empowerment (RISE)” program. This program aims to address the reintegration needs of vulnerable children, young persons, adults, and other stigmatized groups, including families perceived with ISIS affiliation returning to Iraq from North-East Syria (NES), as well as conflict-affected host community members.

The program focuses on four key areas:

  1. Facilitating the return of displaced persons to Iraq, fostering dialogues, and promoting social cohesion.
  2. Providing socioeconomic reintegration and mental health and psychosocial support to Al Hol returnees.
  3. Protecting child rights and improving legal rights for repatriated Iraqis.
