Project Description

The Association of Interpreting Guides of the Galapagos National Park (AGIPA) in Ecuador has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as an Environment and Climate Change Educator. In 2005 AGIPA obtained a grant to build and equip a library in the town of Puerto Ayora. The “Library of Galapagos and The World” is the only community library in the entire Archipelago. The library’s activities include workshops on literacy, general education, conservation, mental health, and self-care, and creating an environment conducive to self-research.

The PCRV will be a key contributor in achieving the library’s mission and goals, with a main task of contributing to the environmental education program, to share knowledge about climate change and build community resilience. A secondary task will be to help AGIPA with capacity building in fundraising proposal development.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Ecuador together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
