stretch of the West Midlands section of HS2. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join
our team as a Environmental Advisor within the Environmental
Team.
Please note candidates will need to have a current valid right to work in the UK to be
considered for this role
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure compliance of works with Construction Code of Practice and other environmental
requirements - Development of environmental works solutions/mitigation and monitoring regimes
- Roll out of systems to ensure construction methodologies and programme meet Environmental
Minimum Requirements - Management of Environmental Opportunities and Risks, updating of register and progressing
selected opportunity actions - Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to
ensure collaborative working relationships - Understand the financial implications of decisions affecting environmental issues (e.g.
waste costs, delays.) and seek to ensure best financial outcome for business - Promote environmental awareness on the project through training, briefings, poster
campaigns and other communication methods - Manage and oversee monitoring equipment, collect, process and interpret data (e.g. water,
dust, noise, waste) - Manage onsite Environmental Site inspections, highlighting any bad and good practice to the
relevant teams and Senior Management - Liaises with the community liaison officer regarding complaints from third parties on
noise, dust and or other environmental issues
Experience Required
- Degree in an environmental or scientific discipline or relevant career experience
- Experience in an Environmental role, working in relation to construction site activities
- A sound understanding of environmental legislation and principles of environmental
management systems - Full UK Driving Licences

About Balfour Beatty VINCI
Working together for over 30 years, Balfour Beatty VINCI have been
successful in delivering several significant infrastructures; creating unrivalled expertise and
capability across rail, highways and aviation sectors in the UK and beyond. Our work with HS2
Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington
in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Overall, we
will be building the following across all our sites:
- 42 viaducts totalling over 11km
- 66 overbridges
- More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km
- 56 culverts
- 66 embankments reaching over 33km
- Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures
- Six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures
