Status: Full-time (up to 40 hours), temp, seasonal, non-exempt
Department: Adirondack Watershed Institute (AWI)
Location: Paul Smiths, New York
Reports to: Education & Outreach Manager
Salary: $20.00 per hour

Job Description: The Environmental Educator’s primary responsibility is the development, implementation and evaluation of mission focused education and training programs to a wide variety of audiences including Adirondack residents, visitors, students, and other members of the public. The Environmental Educator will be supervised by the Education and Outreach Manager.

Hours and Pay: The Environmental Educator works 8 hours per day, up to 40 hours per week, from May 27 – September 1, 2025. Some weekend and holiday work is required. Part-time work may be available through October 13, 2025, contingent on funding availability. The Environmental Educator is paid an hourly rate starting at $20.00 per hour.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with AWI staff and partners to plan, promote, implement, and evaluate education and outreach events.
• Contribute to AWI’s website and social media platforms.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to meet the mission of AWI.

Qualifications: Required
• Work, coursework, or volunteer experience leading formal and informal education programs.
• Experience with digital marketing and communications; blog posts, social media, etc.
• Proven interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• General understanding of the environmental or natural sciences.
• Ability to work some weekends and holidays.
• Must be 21 years old or older with a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to PSC insurance carrier and AWI, which will enable authorization to drive College-owned vehicles.

Qualifications: Preferred
• Pursuing or obtained bachelor’s degree.
• Interest in watershed education, environmental education, and community outreach.
• Experience working with the public, working in both fast-paced and slow-paced environments.
• Involvement with organizing, planning, or facilitating events.
• Familiarity with motor-boats, canoes, or kayaks.
