The Summer Environmental Educators will work with other team members to design, lead and evaluate outdoor-focused, theme-based day camps for ages 4 – 12. Training will be provided in child development, group management, first aid, team work, animal care, program policies, safety procedures and other relevant topics.
Required Experience:
- At least 18 years of age
- Passionate about environmental causes and being a part of the community surrounding environmental service
- Dependable; able to fulfill commitment to term of service
- Prepared to undergo a criminal background check
- Experience working with small groups of children ages 4 – 12, a plus
- Experience in outdoor recreation, a plus
- Comfortable with learning how to care for and handle live education animals including reptiles and invertebrates
- Willing to learn and implement teaching strategies for diversity, equity and inclusion

The Nature Place (TNP) is a nature-focused community center open to the public, located in beautiful Myrick Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Our mission is to inspire and cultivate meaningful connections between people and nature, for the benefit of both. We offer nature education programs and community events for all ages and our unique space is available to visit during open hours or to rent for special events and meetings. Schedule: Full Time – Mon. – Friday 40 hours/week
Reports to: Environmental Education Program Manager
Starting salary $430.00/wk paid bi weekly, exempt from overtime
