Environmental Health & Safety Specialist-Associate

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, responsible for coordinating comprehensive program for Institutional compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.

Job Duties:

  • Performs and assists indoor air quality monitoring and spill response.
  • Monitors, packages, transports, separates, and processes hazardous materials for appropriate disposal.
  • Maintains program compliance reporting systems identifying and developing both corrective action and appropriate training for areas found to be deficient.
  • Assists in the development of standard operating procedures and other written guidelines.
  • Assists with data analysis to identify workplace health and safety risk trends, recommends, and monitors actions to mitigate risk and develop prevention strategies/programs.
  • Documents corrective actions.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a basic science is required, a degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Applied Science, Health or Environmental Science is preferred; relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

    Experience:

    • No experience is required with degree.
    • Experience in laboratory safety or hazardous waste is preferred.
