The Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD) regulates pesticides, biocides, industrial and consumer
chemicals, detergents, and the export of dangerous chemicals. The Division also seeks to
prevent the adverse effects of chemicals on both people and the environment.
The CRD Environmental Teams evaluate the effectiveness of pesticides and biocides, how
chemicals behave in the environment and what their environmental impacts are.
We are now looking for Environmental Regulatory Scientists to join our CRD Environmental Teams
on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role
As an Environmental Regulatory Scientist, you will support our Biocides and Pesticides work,
either as part of our Environmental Fate and Behaviour Team or our Ecotoxicity Team.
Specifically, you will evaluate the effectiveness of pesticides and biocides, learn how each
chemical behaves and what environmental impact it has.
Depending on where you specialise, you will prepare exposure assessments and assess
environmental risks that are used to support regulatory decisions or evaluate exposure data
which is used to undertake associated regulatory risk assessments.
You will:
- Apply your scientific knowledge to written technical evaluations
- Provide scientific advice to colleagues, applicants, stakeholders and the public
- Analyse and interpret information against regulations, guidance and models
About You
To be considered as an Environmental Regulatory Scientist, you will need:
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject, such as Environmental Sciences,

Biological Sciences, Agriculture, Soil Science, Geology, Geography with Environmental Sciences,
Chemistry or Biochemistry - The ability to write and present effective technical information clearly and concisely
- Sound analytical skills
- Good planning and organisation skills
- Teamwork and communication skills
We welcome applications from graduates with degrees pending award in 2024. Conditional offers
will be subject to attaining the minimum of a 2:2 grade in a relevant science subject.
