Job Description and Duties –

The incumbent oversees the Knights Landing juvenile emigrant monitoring project in the Sacramento River.

  • Duties include participation on technical teams including Central Valley and State Water Project (CVP/SWP) water operations technical teams and Interagency Ecological Program (IEP) project work teams.
  • Responsibilities include analyzing fish population trends/status and examining these trends in relation to CVP/SWP operation and Biological Opinion implementation.
  • Incumbent coordinates with state and federal agencies, involved landowners, and DFW staff in branches and regions.

Additionally, the position requires in-depth technical analysis and leading field staff under a variety of conditions.

This position also requires providing near real-time data for CVP/SWP water operations groups and tracking take for the monitoring project under the Federal ESA permit.

Working Conditions –

Travel and field work is required, including weekend and holiday work on occasion. Some night work and travel may be required. Field work is conducted year round, so working in inclement weather will be expected. Work will include operating motor vessels including boats, driving 4wd vehicles with and without trailer, and may include hiking long distances in rugged terrain.

This position will work a 7/40 schedule.

The incumbent must have the ability to use a computer keyboard and work with Microsoft Office softer for several hours a day.
