Position Description: Conservation District Environmental Specialist will perform a variety of technical duties related
to the planning and implementation of conservation practices in Cattaraugus County. Conservation District
Environmental Specialists are both field technicians and professional office staff. In the field, Environmental Specialist
will conduct various surveys to complete state and federal environmental permits, hydroseed, carry out field visits, inspect construction projects, assist in flood control structure operation and maintenance, and make environmental management recommendations to landowners and municipal officials. In the office, Environmental Specialist will manage and complete environmental permit applications for various projects on behalf of the District, municipalities, and/or landowners, create reports, assist in grant writing and grant administration, utilize GIS mapping and/or other design (CAD) software, and interact with the public through outreach programs. The listed job duties are only a fraction of the potential conservation-related work that is possible with this position.
