The Land Alliance’s William C. and Joyce C. O’Neil Conservation Steward program delivers valuable conservation-related experiences to qualified college students interested in building a career in the protection of our natural resources.

Working with Darcy McDowell, the Associate Director of Stewardship, interns will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and removal of invasive plants
  • Maintaining plantings as part of habitat restoration projects
  • Trail maintenance and trail building
  • Monitoring flora and fauna within the preserves owned by the land alliance.
  • Leading educational nature walks and program
  • Working with volunteers and staff in preserve management project

Required Competencies:

  • Commitment to environmental conservation
  • Comfortable being outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Comfortable working both independently and with a team
  • Research, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • The ability to get to and between job sites is a must!

Preferred Competencies:

  • Ability to identify local flora/fauna species
  • Experience with gardening/plant care
  • Experience managing invasive plants
  • Interest/Experience leading educational programs

Start Date: End of May/Beginning of June

Hours: 32 hours per week/ 10-11 weeks 

Pay: $17.90 an hour

**This position does not offer intern housing**
