About the Organization: Peace of Mind Afghanistan (PoMA) is an organization that provides psychological and mental health support to communities and populations throughout Afghanistan. PoMA is made up of an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, and researchers who sustainably develop mental health systems, support, programs, and technical assistance. Recognizing the importance of global mental health, PoMA strives to address mental health challenges that have a profound impact on individuals and communities worldwide. PoMA is expanding its programming and is now looking for dedicated team members to join our organization.

About the Role:

We are seeking several clinical practitioners with a background in mental health/psychology or social work, to provide mental health and psychosocial support services to identified communities. The EQUIP Lead will be responsible for supervising clinical providers utilizing EQUIP competencies. In addition, you will assess the provincial teams’ use of EQUIP competencies in their work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the EQUIP platform to manage the development and training of clinical providers in the use of PM + EP and DWM.
  • Measure the clinical competencies of clinical providers using the ENACT tool, providing capacity building training and support if competencies are inadequate.
  • Provide clinical supervision and feedback to clinical providers throughout the project duration.
  • Work with lead researcher and VU research team to ensure the implementation of a pilot randomized control trial in the field, involving the delivery of evidence-based mental health support.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Background in Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Worker, or alternative training or education in mental health, social sciences
  • Training in EQUIP and as an EQUIP trainer
  • Experience teaching and assessing practitioners using EQUIP competencies
  • Experience developing a culturally and situationally tailored EQUIP program to assess relevant competencies
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto, at minimum a basic level of English.
  • Preferably, experience delivering MH/MHPSS in communities.
