ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

The Equipment & Projects Division is responsible for equipment maintenance, operation, and projects at Avalon ranging from infrastructure, conservation, and capital projects across the property. The successful employee is committed to advancing Avalon’s goals of maintaining a world-class recreational and conservation property.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
As an Equipment & Projects Technician, the job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Use a variety of heavy equipment to include bulldozers, wheel loaders, excavators, front-end loaders, tractors, and other equipment to assist with the regular maintenance and assigned projects across the property.
  • Provide regular maintenance, service and repairs on equipment.
  • Assist the Equipment & Projects Coordinator with accurate equipment inventory and service records.
  • Maintain shop area and inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Work with the Equipment & Projects Coordinator to complete projects such as road maintenance, timber harvest clean-up, maintenance of waterways and drainage, and other land management goals.
  • Perform general and manual labor as required to assist in upkeep of all areas at Avalon including but not limited to mowing, grading, piling, burning, clearing, excavator work, etc.
  • Participate in Avalon’s quail management program and the maintenance of dove fields, lakes, waterfowl impoundments, and timber management including assisting with pile burning, prescribed burns and removal of invasive species and herbaceous weed control as needed.
  • Operate farm tractors to block woods, mow roads, maintain feed trails and firebreaks, and disk layout fields with the Land Management team.    
  • Safely operate and maintain vehicles, tractors, and other heavy equipment, implements, chainsaws, ATVs and UTVs.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Property Manager.
