St. Jude is looking for an experienced and multifaceted analytical team member to fill the position of cGMP Process Technician. This role supports operations of the cGMP Facility to make sure our equipment is working properly and efficiently and that our environments are clean and compliant, so we can provide the best research facilities for our employees and care for our patients.
This position requires occasional overtime and weekend work. Call ins will be expected on occasion.
Main tasks for this role include:
– Assists the Senior Process Technician to determine maintenance requirements for autoclaves and process equipment.
– Uses tools, computers and other analysis equipment to install, modify, troubleshoot, repair, adjust, calibrate, test, operate and maintain sterilizers, autoclaves, and other cGMP process equipment.
– Performs corrective and preventive maintenance, as scheduled by the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Detailed list of duties are below.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Senior Process Technician to determine maintenance requirements for autoclaves and process equipment.
- Uses tools, computers and other analysis equipment to install, modify, troubleshoot, repair, adjust, calibrate, test, operate and maintain sterilizers, autoclaves, and other cGMP process equipment.
- Performs corrective and preventive maintenance, as scheduled by the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Assists the Senior Process Technician to periodically review preventive maintenance requirements to ensure applicability and accuracy
- Assists the Senior Process Technician to formulate corrective maintenance trends.
- Works with Service technicians for specialty equipment as needed.
- Interprets, clarifies and evaluates work requests and task requirements.
- Draws sketches to ensure clear understanding of work requests.
- Evaluates work requests to ensure compliance with departmental, hospital, local, state and national regulatory and safety codes.
- Works with the Senior Process Technician to accurately determine job and project-specific requirements.
- Uses technical manuals, operation and Maintenance manuals, blueprints and sketches to determine specific material required and ensures compliance with departmental, hospital, local, state and national regulatory and safety codes.
- Determines and orders appropriate material and parts to complete assigned tasks and projects.
- Maintains a working knowledge of, and supports maintenance on, facility support systems within assigned areas of responsibility in the cGMP
- Supports other FOM personnel to complete assigned tasks and construction/renovation projects; Assists in troubleshooting facility support systems and equipment having PLCs and other complex control systems.
- Provides task direction for assigned project helpers.
- Complies with work related safety precautions and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Complies with office procedures, such as work order routing and completion of work order documentation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the cGMP and institution.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- High school diploma/GED required
Minimum Experience:
- Five (5) years as a mechanic working on steam, condensate, water and pneumatic systems in a hospital, research facility, or similar environment, with •Two (2) years operating, troubleshooting and maintaining medical, research or cGMP autoclaves, process equipment and/or equipment of similar technical sophistication is required
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement Steam Engineer First or Third Class License preferred

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $28.00 – $47.50 per hour for the role of Equipment Service Technician.
