ICN Job Description and Person Specification – ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Admin Assistant (Part-time)

Contracted Weekly Hours:              7.5 hours per week

Contract type:                                    Permanent

Salary:                                          £11.44 an hour

Annual Leave:                                     5 weeks annual leave plus 8 bank holidays pro rata

Location:                                             ICN’s office in Bournemouth

Start date:                                           As soon as possible after 18th March 2024

International Care Network (ICN) is a Christian charity whose aim is to help to rebuild the lives of asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants. We are looking for an efficient admin assistant to support with administration of the ESOL work.

Responsibilities:

 

  • To schedule and conduct initial language assessments for new learners.
  • To make phone calls/write emails to students regarding attendance and other queries.
  • To order/source resources for classrooms.
  • To contact venues regarding bookings of classrooms.
  • To create invoices for learners.
  • To maintain and file registers for classes.
  • To keep resource books in order and help collate an online resource library.
  • To design flyers, posters and timetables to promote classes.
  • To write letters of attendance and certificates for learners.
  • To do any relevant ESOL administrative work given by the ESOL Manager.

 

Person Specification:

 

      Knowledge, skills and experience:

 

  • To maintain clear professional boundaries in all beneficiary, stake holder, public and staff relationships.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management.
  • Able to relate to people of other cultures and faiths, or none.
  • Experience in and knowledge of ESOL.
  • Ideally be qualified as an ESOL teacher.
  • Experience of relating to and communicating with people for whom English is not their first language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in general administrative tasks.
  • Transparent and actively open in all matters.
  • Positive and accountable in all matters.
  • A good steward of ICN time.
  • Confident to use initiative.
