Job description

A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Civil Engineering Estimator to join their pre-construction team on a OUTSIDE IR35 contract basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on major UK infrastructure tenders, supporting a dynamic estimating team delivering projects across roads, highways, and general civils. You’ll be responsible for producing detailed and accurate cost estimates across a range of project scopes.Key Responsibilities·Review and interpret tender documents, specifications, and drawings
·Identify risks, opportunities, and resource requirements for bids
·Price works from first principles across civils disciplines (earthworks, drainage, ducting, paving, etc.)
·Liaise with operational teams to align delivery strategy with methodology
·Engage with supply chain partners for quotations and subcontract packages
·Build comprehensive cost estimates, including preliminaries
·Prepare and review tender programmes and construction sequences (MS Project ideal)
·Present estimates for internal adjudication and manage revisions
·Submit fully compliant tenders on timeIdeal Candidate·Strong background in civil engineering estimating (Tier 1 or 2 infrastructure experience preferred)
·Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
·Highly proficient in pricing general civils and highways tenders
·Strong commercial awareness and technical insight
·Exceptional numeracy and analytical skills
·Excellent communication and stakeholder management
·Experience with estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Take-Off) a plus
