IFC Equity Mobilization Department (AMC) within the Treasury & Syndications Vice President Unit (VPU) at IFC, mobilizes and manages capital for private equity investments in emerging markets. AMC was created in 2009 to provide investors with access to IFC’s emerging markets investment pipeline and to expand the supply of long-term capital to these markets, enhancing IFC’s development goals and generating profits for investors by leveraging IFC’s global reach, standards, investment approach, and track record. AMC has raised US$10.2 billion through 13 investment funds that invest across a variety of sectors, geographies, and strategies.
AMC is raising two new funds, the IFC Emerging Markets Sustainability Funds, comprising of the IFC Emerging Markets Sustainability Fund and the IFC Emerging Markets Sustainability Fund of Funds, focus on co-investing alongside IFC in emerging markets. These funds aim to raise capital from institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals in the United States to support IFC’s investment activities in emerging markets. Role and Responsibilities:
The objective of the ETC Analyst is to support the IFC AMC Client Relations and the fund teams primarily in their fundraising efforts in Europe and the Middle East & North Africa (MENA), as well as the development of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to attract potential investors and secure commitments from qualified investors.
In addition, he/she will assist with other activities such as preparing investor presentations, assisting with investor due diligence requests, conducting market research, supporting the funds closing process, and organize corporate events and conferences. The Analyst will report to the Head of Client Relations based in the UK. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct a detailed analysis of the private equity landscape in Europe and the MENA region, including identifying potential target institutional investors such as pension funds, wealth managers, endowments & foundations who may be interested in investing in impact investments in emerging markets. Fluency in local languages is desirable.
- Support fundraising efforts by drafting investor communications and tracking the outreach plan to engage with potential investors.
- Implement the fundraising strategy by conducting investor outreach, setting up investor meetings, and following up with potential investors to solicit commitments.
- Assist in organizing investor events, roadshows, and other fundraising activities in both regions to raise awareness about the IFC AMC funds and attract potential investors including planning, procurement, and negotiations with vendors.
- Coordinate regular progress reports on fundraising activities, including investor engagement and commitments.
- Database Management, responsible for the creation and maintenance of a database of investor profiles and interactions:
- ensure that information in the database is up to date.
- ensure that meeting notes are submitted in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for maintaining communication activities within AMC and across IFC, assist in developing relationship management strategies for existing investors and assist in responding to investors’ reporting requests and questions.
- Work independently on a variety of issues affecting the Client Relations function and maintain regular contact, with a wide range of staff to stay abreast of CR emerging issues requiring attention.
The Analyst is expected to understand the fundamentals of private equity investments, the emerging market private equity fundraising environment, and private equity fund structures. Exposure to legal issues related to fundraising and fund documents is a prerequisite. Other requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree (specialization in finance, marketing, or related field).
- 3+ years relevant experience in investor relations at an alternative investment firm, an alternative investment placement firm, or a consultant is preferred.
- Understanding of private equity fundraising, structures, operations, and investment processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Fluency in a European or Middle Eastern language is a plus.
- Experience in organizing investor events and roadshows.
- Experience in various software such as Excel, PowerPoint, and research tools.
- Experience working with CRM systems.
- Ability to quickly develop competency in manipulating various reporting platforms and systems to obtain usable LP data.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify substantive issues and propose solutions.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with strong client service orientation and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong team player and willingness to work outside the scope of work and business hours and across time zones.
- Understanding of IFC, its mission, and operations preferred.
- Highly motivated, and committed to the highest ethical standards.
