An excellent opportunity is available for a Ethics and Contracts Officer to join the Gibbs Laboratory in the Personalised Oncology Division at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.
About the Position
The Ethics and Contracts Officer will coordinate the ethics, governance and contractual aspects of translational research projects across multiple tumour streams administered through the Gibbs Laboratory. It is expected that the appointee work efficiently with the Ethics Manager to prepare and coordinate all documentation required to gain Human Research and Ethics Committee (HREC) approval and Research Governance (RGO) approval during the duration of a project including initial approval and ongoing annual reports and amendments.
Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Tertiary qualifications in health science, allied health or similar education/training and experience
- Sound working knowledge of medical terminology (especially Oncology) would be preferred
- Demonstrated experience, expertise and broad knowledge in ethics/regulatory affairs frameworks
- Previous administration experience and the flexibility to support key research staff with various administrative tasks
- Advanced computer literacy skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and stakeholders, to form and maintain effective working relationships within the organisation and with external bodies is essential.
- Sound understanding of privacy principals governing health information
- Sound understanding of data standards, NHRMC national statement, and Good Clinical Practice

- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent time management skills and a genuine commitment to accuracy and exceptional attention to detail
- Be innovative, resourceful and adaptable to change
Terms of Appointment
This position is 12 month appointment in the first instance in a full time on-site capacity (part time considered). Salary is Research Support Employee Level 5 ($76,566 – $87,947). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
