Background

E3G is an independent European climate change think tank with a global outlook. We are world-leading strategists on the political economy of climate change, dedicated to achieving a safe climate for all.

We work on the frontier of the climate landscape tackling the barriers and advancing the solutions to a safe climate. Our goal is to translate climate politics, economics and policies into action.

E3G is consistently ranked as one of the top-ten most influential environmental think tanks in the world by the University of Pennsylvania’s Global Go To Think Tank Index.

Role Overview

The main tasks of this role include conducting research on energy and climate policy, such as the EU’s 2040 climate target and relevant pieces of legislation linked to fossil gas, hydrogen and the energy transition; assisting in the organisation of workshops and events; and engaging with EU energy stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis that will support E3G’s strategy for the new EU political mandate.
  • Help to inform policy briefings, reports and presentations related to EU gas policy.

  • Monitor and analyse EU energy and climate developments, with a focus on fossil gas-related initiatives.
  • Serve as an internal point of expertise on gas-related matters at the EU level, providing proactive updates and analysis to E3G colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Support the coordination of external and internal meetings and events, including the management of shared calendars, event databases, and minutes.

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will be a team player who brings curiosity, an eagerness to learn and who has a passion for delivering a fair and successful energy transition. Key traits include attention to detail, strong research and organisational competencies and well-developed communication skills.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and experience managing information (e.g. stakeholder lists, calendars, data sets). Experience with Canva, Miro, or similar software, is an asset.
  • Experience drafting documents for publication and an ability to summarise complex information in a clear and accessible form.
  • Familiarity with EU energy and climate legislation is desirable (e.g. Fitfor55, REPowerEU, National Energy and Climate Plans, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the EU political process is desirable, including experience with political outreach and advocacy.
  • Experience of organising public events is desirable.
