We deliver a range of solutions needed to deliver the EU Green Deal, from better batteries, solar panels, wind turbines and smarter, more energy efficient materials. The Chemicals Industry Transition Pathway identifies the actions and conditions needed to achieve the green and digital transition and improve resilience in the chemical industry.

For its Public Affairs department, Cefic is looking for a (M/F/D) EU Policy and Advocacy Advisor.
Mission of the role
This role is designed to enable experienced, early career graduates, keen to pursue a career in European Affairs, to acquire practical experience and training in EU advocacy practice.
The focus of this role will be the key topics within the EU Green Deal including energy and climate, environmental, health and safety, chemicals, digital and wider industrial policies as well as the regulatory environment concerning implementation of chemicals legislation.
The successful candidate will form part of Cefic’s political monitoring unit and ensure that Cefic remains well connected to relevant areas of the growing EU policy agenda.
Are you inspired by these responsibilities?
You will:
- Research and monitor EU Institutions, Industry associations, NGOs, think tanks, and agencies;
- Attend and report on policy conferences and public meetings of the EU institutions, e.g. Council of the EU, European Parliament committees and Commission conferences etc.;
- Draft reports and briefings on EU policy developments;
- Support the effective communication of political developments and advice to Cefic members;
- Manage a range of digital tools designed to inform colleagues and members of political developments;
- Advise on EU policies & legislative procedures;
- Monitor the relevant issues in EU policy media;
- Assist in the organization of policy events, such as conferences, workshops, etc.;
- Assist with the outreach of key EU stakeholders (Commission, Council and European Parliament).
Can you make the difference?
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, competencies and personal qualities:
- University degree preferably in law, political sciences or chemistry/chemical engineering;
- Minimum of 1 year’s prior experience in the Council, Parliament, Commission or Public Affairs role;
- Fluent in English and at least one other EU official language;
- Cooperative approach and teamwork;
- Very good understanding of EU procedures and institutional framework;
- Ability to synthesize and translate complex issues into clear and concise messages;
- Fully proficient using MS office and good understanding of social media channels;
- Flexibility and willingness to learn;
- Accuracy and attention to detail; and diligence in research work;
- Enthusiasm for EU public affairs;
- Diligence in research work.
