The European Biodiesel Board (EBB) is a Brussels-based non-profit organization established in 1997, grouping the major European Union (EU) biodiesel producers. The EBB promotes the use of biodiesel in the EU, and participates in the elaboration of the EU energy, climate change, renewable energies, transport, agriculture policies, as well as any other policies relevant to the biodiesel industry.

The EBB represents an industry at the heart of almost all hot-button issues discussed today. From climate change to international trade and energy to agriculture, if there is an issue you’ve been reading about, there’s a good chance that EBB is affected. Based in Brussels, Belgium, the EBB has a small but dynamic team looking for EU Policy Officer, eager to make an impact and keen to grow in a fast-paced and exciting environment, where EU Climate & Energy Policy is increasingly at the forefront of the EU legislative work. The EBB EU Policy Officer will monitor policy and regulatory developments impacting the EU biodiesel sector, contribute to shape EBB policy messages and to prepare and implement advocacy strategies, and represent EBB in a number of formal and informal stakeholder groups. Although working under the immediate supervision of Policy Director, you will be given a lot of autonomy and need drive, creativity, and flexibility as you take initiative to get things done. While EBB expects you to bring some years of experience in a similar position, this job offers you the chance to grow further and to gain expertise and responsibilities that would be hard to get elsewhere in the same amount of time. Main tasks:
- Monitor key policy and regulatory developments in the area of EU Climate & Energy policy, transport and agriculture and report to the EBB membership. This will include EU files, but also national transposition of key EU legislation;
- Contribute to shape and to implement EBB lobbying and campaign strategies for the European biodiesel industry, under the supervision of the Policy Director and in cooperation with the Communication and Media Manager;
- When required, represent the sector in Brussels and internationally on climate, transport, agriculture, and energy issues;
- Contribute to the drafting of EBB Position Papers and other policy documents;
- Participate in several stakeholder coalitions on behalf of the EBB;
- Help organising internal and external events, including monthly meetings of the EBB EU Affairs Working Group;
- Build and maintain relationships with Members of the European Parliament, Council and Commission’ Representatives and other relevant stakeholders;
- Assist with the general functioning of the EBB secretariat, including organising events like the EBB General Assembly.
Profile:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field;
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar position, with a solid understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes;
- Strong interest in the energy transition to a low-carbon economy and tackling climate change. Knowledge of the EU Climate & Energy policy and the Fit for 55 Package in the field of transport. Specific knowledge of the Renewable Energy Directive and biofuels is an asset;
- Flexibility, and the ability to work well both individually, as well as part of a team;
- Excellent writing and proof-reading skills as well as communication and networking skills;
- Fluent spoken and written English as this is the working language of EBB. Knowledge of additional EU languages is a plus;
- Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to take initiative and flourish in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
- Outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills;
- Right to work in Belgium.

- Place of employment is Brussels, Belgium;
- Permanent employment contract under Belgian law;
