Position description

Carbon Market Watch’s mission is to ensure that carbon pricing and other climate policies cut pollution and drive a just transition towards sustainable societies. Given the urgency of halting the climate breakdown, we want market-based climate policies to fulfil their promise and be used wisely in combination with regulatory and incentivising measures.

Our strengths lie in evidence-based advocacy to improve climate policies, turning complex issues into understandable messages, and helping people understand and influence those policies.

Carbon Market Watch is an organisation with a strong culture of participative decision-making, collaboration, team spirit and concern for the well-being of its members. We combine working in our office with working from our homes in Belgium on a weekly basis. Occasional working from other countries is facilitated.

Purpose of the position

We seek an experienced, conscientious EU project coordinator with good organisational and interpersonal skills and a solid understanding of the requirements of EU-funded projects. This person would work to ensure the overall effective and timely delivery of a new CMW-led EU-funded project.

They will be line-managed by the executive director but report on the project’s progress to both the executive director and the policy director. The successful appointee will also act as the project’s primary point of contact for consortium members and external stakeholders.

In the case of future applications for new EU projects, the project coordinator will play a leading role in the application team.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Representing the project in relevant external events and meetings when required;
  • Involvement in new EU funding applications;
  • Potentially supporting application and reporting processes related to other EU grants.

Previous experience
