What does the European advocacy lead do:
Talks to people from the European Union bodies, Council of Europe, and other relevant organisations about what matters to people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
Leads our European advocacy programme, contributing ideas about where it should focus and how it should be organised, and supporting others at our team to be effective in European advocacy.
influences European decision- and policy-making:
- Follows European decision- and policy-making processes to identify opportunities for Inclusion Europe advocacy.
- Reviews documents such as reports, laws etc., and contributes to consultations to reflect the views and expectations of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
- Speaks and represents Inclusion Europe at conferences, seminars etc.
Communicates about European advocacy work of Inclusion Europe:
- This includes writing articles and posts about different aspects of the work, policy developments, and about the work of Inclusion Europe.
Creates opportunities for self-advocates and family members at European level:
- Organises seminars and other events with relevant European bodies.
- Promotes self-advocates and family members as speakers and leaders at relevant conferences and events.
- Tells our members and others about European policies, and about how Inclusion Europe works to influence them.
Contributes to reports and research about rights and situation of people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Europe:
- Co-writes documents describing what Inclusion Europe wants on behalf of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
- Cooperates with Inclusion Europe members, listens to what they have to say.
- Cooperates with Inclusion Europe partners to know about their views and share ours.
- Prepares documents such as submissions to consultations (CRPD Committee, Council of Europe, EU institutions), policy briefs and positions, reports on topics important to people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
- Cooperates with our partners for joint advocacy, policy actions.
As part of Inclusion Europe team, the European advocacy lead:
- Works with Director and other team members to formulate and follow our European advocacy strategy.
- Contributes to development, delivery, reporting of annual workplan, and grant applications.
- Manages relevant projects or activities.
- Collaborates with team members on relevant activities.
- Manages and supports trainee(s).
