As a member of the Ohio Supercomputer Center’s (OSC) administrative team, the Events Lead Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing the event logistics of the Summer Institute (SI) and Youth Watershed Summer Institute (YWSI) programs, as well as coordinating OSC support for additional summer and educational events, primarily targeted at K-12 students. OSC accelerates discovery for Ohio’s academic and commercial researchers by providing accessible, reliable and secure high performance computing power at a fraction of the cost of alternatives, along with expert consultation and secure storage.
The Events Lead Coordinator:
- Plans and executes the event logistics of the Summer Institute (SI) and Youth Watershed Summer Institute (YWSI). Serves as the day-of/on-site lead point-of-contact for SI and YWSI programs, ensuring smooth event execution (including occasionally during evenings/weekends outside of the position’s typical daytime weekday hours). Serves as a specialist in event coordination.
- Coordinates and supports OSC’s additional educational events, including COSI Big Science Celebration, Ohio State Fair activities and various lectures and tours.
- Interfaces and coordinates with OSC’s staff and client community, as well as key collaborators at the State of Ohio and The Ohio State University.
- Provides administrative support as needed for other events, travel arrangements and project reporting.
- Communicates in a professional and timely manner and demonstrates strong commitment to customer service; represents OSC positively when interacting with program participants and external partners.
- Supports outreach efforts by serving as a program contact for internal and external participants, industry partners and a range of other stakeholders. Demonstrates commitment to our values in education and experiential learning and positively promotes teamwork, collaborations and communication.
- Works independently, with limited supervision.

Required Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4 years of experience in coordination of technical educational programs targeted at youth
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience in event management and advanced knowledge in event coordination
- Experience with making decisions with limited supervision and providing recommendations regarding existing procedures
- Experience with providing internal and/or external customer service or support
Desired Education/Experience:
- Experience with IT and computer industry technology and terminology
- Experience in purchasing and budgeting, especially at Ohio State
- Experience overseeing undergraduate students and/or volunteers
- Knowledge of State of Ohio and university policies and procedures
- Experience in creating promotional and educational materials
Additional Information:
This position is a 2-year duration term position. It will potentially be extended based on the continuation of the expanded summer camp program and available funding.
