As Events Officer for the NDC Partnership’s Support Unit, you will be responsible for coordinating and orchestrating the logistical execution of the several events during the Partnership’s robust events calendar and supporting the Partnership in showcasing its impact towards advancing the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

You will help prepare and implement a diverse portfolio of events within the broader climate and development calendar, including the Partnership engagement at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Regional Climate Weeks. You will help orchestrate both in-person and virtual events. You will ensure events are exceptionally professional and serve as an effective platform for our over 200 members: developing and developed Country Members (through ministries of environment, finance, planning and foreign affairs), Institutional, and Associate Members (including multilateral development banks and United Nations agencies). You will draw on their creativity and strong executive functioning to deliver dynamic programming.
You will report to the Deputy Director of Outreach and Governance, working closely with the NDC Partnership Events Manager.

What will you do:

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Support the development and delivery of a comprehensive program of in-person and virtual events to continually increase the NDC Partnership’s visibility and strengthen relationships among its Country Members, Institutional Members, Associate Members, and other key partners, building on and connecting events to the Partnership’s Work Program and Country Engagement and Knowledge & Learning priorities
  • Identify high-profile engagement opportunities for member countries and institutions to highlight their work and impact of the Partnership
  • Propose and develop events and outreach activities for the NDC Partnership to be carried out directly by the Support Unit for the broader membership to increase member involvement
  • Coordinate closely with event organizers to promote visibility and participation in events not hosted / facilitated by the Support Unit
  • Contribute to the maintenance of an events calendar for the NDC Partnership, which captures innovative opportunities to highlight our work and ambitious climate and development action by members
  • Ensure required materials, presentations, and talking points are prepared for all relevant stakeholders, leading coordination among staff members and developing these directly where appropriate, ensuring overall quality control and adherence to brand guidelines
  • Track and report on event budgets, including with host institutions’ procurement teams, to facilitate event costs
Governance Meetings :
  • Assist with key governance events including the Annual Forum, Steering Committee and Advisory Group Meetings and membership convening
  • Regularly track and evaluate metrics of success and help adapt strategies to grow and improve results over time.
Event Marketing Communication:
  • Incorporate event promotion from the onset of planning, including overseeing graphic design and branding for each event, and aligning messaging with on-site signage, digital and print collateral, and website, email and social channels
  • Contribute to creative communications strategies to support and promote events, including through traditional and social media, in close coordination with other members of the Outreach & Governance team.
What will you need:
 
Education:
  • You have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, or an additional 3 years’ relevant working experience
Experience:
  • You have 6+ years of work experience in event planning and delivery, both virtual and in-person
  • Experience leading the planning, coordination and execution of both intimate and high profile events, including with governments or large international institutions
  • Experience working on environment, climate or development issues
  • Experience orchestrating webinars and workshops
  • You have generated and incorporated creative event outreach and promotion, including through traditional and digital media
  • Experience building relationships with stakeholders at various levels
  • Experience with budget management, including navigating institutional procurement processes
  • Project management experience including the use of collaborative tools
  • Experience with writing, editing, and developing presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to track event engagement and impact
Languages:
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English. Knowledge of German, French, and Spanish would be an asset.
