Job Description Summary JOB TITLE: Events Specialist (Manager)

LOCATION(S): Birmingham, Bristol, Halifax, Leeds, Edinburgh or London

HOURS: Full-Time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

As the Group transforms, so must how we communicate and engage with our colleagues.

The Colleague Communication & Experience team has been created as the centre of excellence to rethink how best we support both the strategic business delivery and cultural transformation through simpler, more targeted and consistent end to end colleague communications and experiences.

What’s involved in the role?

The internal communications landscape is going through a massive transformation, in particular as it embraces the opportunities that technology can bring. We want to ensure that we’re at the forefront of technological advances and that we make the most of these opportunities through colleague experiences, whether online, in person or hybrid.

As an outcome focused events specialist, the manager provides the end-to-end event management oversight and delivery ownership as a key part of our best-in-class communications to our internal audiences. The role reports into the Senior Manager, Channels & Experience.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Co-owns large scale and high-profile internal events including those led by our Group Chief Executive and our all-colleague broadcasts.

Shapes the internal events strategy and plan for the Group and GEC, supporting delivery by identifying the opportunities and challenges to ensure maximum impact, value and outcomes.

Provides expert guidance and counsel on events for our business partner teams and our stakeholders in the business, helping to shape dynamic experiences.

Manages event content and logistics from conception through to delivery making sure the event and its content is engaging, impactful and achieves the desired outcomes.

Works closely and collaboratively across GCA and the wider business to ensure events are planned and delivered effectively, maximising impact and alignment with Group and business unit priorities.

Is GCA’s lead contact with event-related creative suppliers, ensuring a seamless experience for our stakeholders and audiences.

Challenges constructively, driving real purpose and value of communications and helping to reduce the noise.

Uses measurement and feedback to understand the value and impact of events and uses the findings to test, learn and adapt to influence future event strategy.

Collaborates with our in-house creative team (and external suppliers when needed) to develop high-quality event content.

Continuously develops and grows by pursuing and investing in personal development opportunities.

Establishes and maintains effective networks of contacts across the communications job family.

Lead’s the way in testing and piloting the latest technical event improvements and enhancements.

Provides input and influences the shape of future workplace strategy so it’s fit for purpose and future looking, enabling outstanding in-house event delivery.

Creates an event blueprint, enabling self-service for small divisional events, and efficiencies to be delivered.

What we’re looking for

An outcomes focused events specialist, specialising in managing the creativity, technology and content needed to produce internal experiences, maximising colleague experience and engagement with an eye on the external environment / best practice, preferably with experience of working in an events agency.

Proactive ownership of individual and team performance, taking accountability for collective success and taking pride in being part of the change.

Has, or is working towards, professional event accreditation or qualifications (such as an event management diploma) proving in depth knowledge and expertise.

Has a deep knowledge and experience of the tools and technology-enabled innovation that demonstrates GCAs position as the centre of excellence for internal events, now and in the future.

A passion to embrace and inspire change, continuous improvement as well as a willingness to be bold and bring ideas and experiments.

Excellent appreciation of our business priorities and what matters most to our internal audiences and segments.

Highly effective stakeholder management and partnering skills, building an extensive network of subject matter experts from across the Group.

Has a creative, critical mind, challenging established ways of working to embed impactful events approaches and passionately inspires change in the Group’s channel strategy.

Understands the communications landscape in the Group, collaborating with expert channel and support teams within GCA and, where required, external partners to deliver outstanding, inclusive and accessible events.

Has experience across the events industry that can be used to help shape and define the Group’s future event strategy.

A commercial growth mindset committed to driving return on investment and seeking efficiencies and impact in all that we do.

Ability to work at pace in an agile tech-enabled environment.

Trusted to handle confidential material and apply insight / data-based judgement.
