Friends of the Bay (FOB) is a widely respected, award-winning not-for-profit organization founded in 1987 and dedicated to the protection of the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor Estuary and the surrounding watershed. FOB’s advocacy efforts enable the estuary to continue as an unsurpassed scenic, ecological and economically productive resource.
The Executive Director is responsible for the administration and management of the organization, including programs, fundraising and business operations.
Areas of responsibility include planning and evaluation, policy development and administration, personnel oversight, fiscal management, and public relations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, knowledge of local governments, fundraising skills, good organizational skills, and computer-literate with Microsoft Office programs.
Must be comfortable with public speaking and be able to work with diverse groups of people. Must be dependable, enthusiastic, and have the ability to work independently while adhering to Friends of the Bay’s policies.
The position of Executive Director is a full-time position with paid holidays, vacation, and personal days. The Executive Director works under the direction of the Friends of the Bay (FOB) Board of Directors at an office located in downtown Oyster Bay.
