WHO WE ARE
Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition (CCCC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit located in Northwest Colorado. Our mission is the protection and conservation of the Rocky Mountain Population of Greater Sandhill Cranes and their habitat using science and education to connect people with this iconic species. CCCC is the collaborative leader in fostering long-term sustainability of the Rocky Mountain Population of Greater Sandhill Cranes. Check out the CCCC website at: www.ColoradoCranes.org .   

Since its inception, CCCC has concentrated on providing public education to ensure the protection of the Rocky Mountain Population of Greater Sandhill Cranes. CCCC sponsors the annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival and presents educational programs for school children and community groups. CCCC operates a livestream Sandhill Crane nest camera that is used both as an education and science tool. CCCC monitors the status of cranes in the area and partners with other organizations engaged in habitat improvement projects for cranes and wildlife in Northwest Colorado. CCCC works with willing farmers and landowners in the Yampa Valley through a program called Crops for Cranes to help provide adequate food supplies for staging cranes just prior to migration.

THE POSITION
CCCC seeks an Executive Director with outstanding people, communication, and organizational skills. The Executive Director, in collaboration with the CCCC board of directors, will be responsible for all aspects of programming, donor/funder relationships, financial management, public engagement, and administration of the organization. The Executive Director should ideally be passionate about nature and the environment and be able to share this passion with others. This is a full-time position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the organization in collaboration with board of directors.
  • Manage day-to-day operations.
  • Plan and oversee execution of all programs.
  • Supervise staff and manage volunteers, in collaboration with board.
  • Plan and lead fundraising efforts including grant opportunities, in collaboration with board.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, grantors, and program participants.
  • Manage finances in consultation with board treasurer.
  • Oversee website, social media, advertising, and media relationships.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to relate and connect with others.
  • Leadership and management experience, preferably with non-profits.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, including public speaking.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient at project management and execution of action plans.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent at supervising volunteers and staff.
  • Development experience including donor and grantor relationships.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends, especially during the festival.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS

  • Previous experience as Executive Director or in a Senior Leadership role of a non-profit.
  • Background/experience in a conservation field, teaching, or wildlife biology.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Annual salary range $65,000 – $75,000 based on qualifications and experience.
  • Workers’ compensation and general liability coverage.
  • Monthly health insurance stipend.
  • 10 paid holidays.
  • PTO (paid time off for sick leave and vacation) up to 22 days during first year of employment.
  • Family and Medical Leave.
