Nashville has one of the oldest Jewish communities in the U.S. and
is among the most attractive growing Jewish communities in the U.S.
today. The Gordon Jewish Community Center (Gordon JCC) has
experienced114 years of vibrant members, determined leaders,
health-consciousprogramming,exciting events, and stories that
transcend lifetimes. Throughout all its history, the mission of
Nashville’s J has remained consistent.
As the Gordon JCC enters a new era of impact, the incoming
Executive Director will be provided the opportunity to expand its
scope and activity, guiding the Board and the staff in
strengthening partnerships and maximizing the potential of the
Gordon JCC campus. This will include the opportunity, with the full
support of the Gordon JCC’s Board, lay leaders, and staff, to lead,
facilitate, develop, and execute an ambitious and innovative
strategic plan to drive these efforts and ensure the Gordon JCC
serves the needs of a growing and changing Jewish community.
The Board expects the Executive Director’s vision to play a
significant role in this process. The Executive Director will work
with community, civic, and business leaders to further this vision,
identify new opportunities for growth, and implement significant
initiatives in key areas that will achieve the goals of connecting
and convening a thriving Jewish community in Nashville.
The ability to inspire, lead, grow, and empower the staff and a
dedicated, committed Board is required. Energy, a desire to
continuously learn and grow, and the ability to be a good listener
are important personal attributes. Integrity, strategic thinking,
critical inquiry, compassion, time and people management,
curiosity, and sound judgment are essential to success in this
role. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including
the ability to engage in difficult, but critical discrete
conversations, are necessary for success in this position. As a key
spokesperson for the Gordon JCC, this person must be able to speak
extemporaneously and appropriately on all relevant subjects in a
clear and transparent fashion. An understanding of community center
operations and literacy of financial reporting, budgeting, and
facilities management/security are critical and necessary. The
successful executive possesses a track record of good business
practices. This individual will demonstrate a career path of
progressive leadership and management experience that fosters an
open door and transparent environment. The Gordon JCC’s future
leader should understand the Jewish Culture and be aware of the
diversity issues facing all.
The compensation range for this position annually is between
$150,000-$170,000. Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Long-Term
Disability Insurance Options; 403 (b) retirement savings plan;
Health Spending Account; PTO; and Paid Holidays.
