Executive Director

San Juan Mountains Association (SJMA), a 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Durango, Colorado, is seeking its next Executive Director to lead the organization forward in a rapidly changing environment. SJMA is a dynamic and growing organization consisting of three main pillars: education, visitor information, and stewardship. With at least 20 year-round staff, approximately 20 seasonal staff, and hundreds of volunteers, SJMA operates across the entire San Juan Mountain Region in southwest Colorado. SJMA serves as the interpretive partner to multiple federal land management agencies and also collaborates with state and local governments, schools, and the business community. 

SJMA’s next Executive Director will be a strong, empathetic people leader, strategic thinker, and problem solver who has extensive experience managing and collaborating with teams and key stakeholders as well as a track record of implementing strategic goals and managing an operating budget of at least $1 million.
