Executive Director Position for Health Advocates for
Older People
Overview:
Health Advocates for Older People, a well-established 501c3
organization, is seeking a dynamic, effective, and mission-driven
Executive Director. Reporting to the Board Chair, this
individual is a key member of the Health Advocates leadership team
and is responsible for creating and driving strategic initiatives
related to all aspects of the organization. This includes but
is not limited to individual, corporate, and planned giving,
grants, and events. In collaboration with the Board of
Directors, the Executive Director will set the strategic direction
and is responsible for formulating goals and objectives for the
organization, engaging community and volunteer leaders and
collaboratively building the infrastructure needed to strengthen
and expand the organization’s base.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Board of Directors, develop a
comprehensive development strategy that steadily increases revenue
while building long-term sustainability. Working with the
Development Director, the Executive Director will help
- Identify prospective individual donors and foundations and
develop strategies to cultivate those relationships. - Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at
cultivating deeper ties with donors and establish effective and
regular communications with them. - Manage the Director of Development in monitoring donor
information and providing and presenting statistical analysis
regularly to Board of Directors. - Collaborate with staff on the management and planning of all
fundraising and awareness events. - Develop and execute strategies to increase awareness and
participation in the Cornerstone Society (planned giving). - Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and
prospects, including the donor database (in Donor Perfect). - Oversee and research funding sources and trends, with
foresight, to help position Health Advocates for Older People in
front of major funding changes or trends. - Implement social media strategy to support development
efforts.
- Serve as an ambassador for Health Advocates for Older People by
speaking at charity events to promote the organization and develop
new relationships with businesses and other non-profits.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Must embrace the mission and vision of Health Advocates for
Older People - 7-10 years experience in the not for profit world
- Proven track record of success
- Experience with the NYC philanthropy community
- Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to
effectively communicate verbally and in writing with varied
audiences (including staff, Board of Directors and prospective
donors) - Ability to develop polished and professional written
communications and presentations - Ability to organize facts and present information and figures
in a clear, concise and logical manner - High level of analytical thinking and problem solving; ability
to analyze data and make sound recommendations - Demonstrated management skills, including the ability to set
clear goals, organize projects, establish and manage budgets,
develop work processes and supervise professionals - Experience with budget development and management
- Ability to be flexible in a dynamic role
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to drive results and
work effectively in cross-functional teams - Ability to proactively identify key issues and risks
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel,
PowerPoint, and Word), Outlook, Donor Perfect, and Quick
Books.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in related area of study
- Experience working in a not-for-profit organization
