The Office of the Provost has an opportunity for an Executive Director, Academic Administration. Through collaboration with various campus leaders, the Executive Director oversees the faculty appointment and promotions process for the seven graduate and professional schools at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Additionally, in collaboration with the schools, oversees requests for new academic programs and modifications for existing programs. Oversees periodic program reviews, and tracks milestones for accreditation and review.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Directs the academic administration activities for faculty and/or post doctoral fellows areas of appointment, renewal, promotion, tenure review committee process, and leave, including sabbaticals.
  • Provides strategic and operational planning in the areas of academic administration, including facilitation of new academic program requests and modifications, as well as overseeing program reviews and tracking milestones for accreditation.
  • Coordinates the search process for senior level faculty and administrative positions.
  • Coordinates faculty issues with departments, programs, and institutes in the school and University academic offices.
  • Serves as the primary faculty information facilitator. Responds to data requests, various surveys, and reports by departments, University, University System of Maryland (USM), school affiliated associations, and other outside organizations as requested.
  • Ensures departmental and school appointment processors are trained and informed of policy or procedure additions and changes.
  • Provides guidance and support to the office staff in the maintenance of faculty data system/database.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Eight (8) years of administration or coordination of academic program or unit (faculty, staff, or student relations) experience.
Supervisory Experience: Five (5) years in management/leadership/supervisory roles.
Other: Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements.

The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $110,000s to mid $120,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
