As one of Australia’s leading not-for-profits, MS Plus works tirelessly to fund research into the causes and treatments for MS and ultimately a cure. They also offer a wide range of emotional and practical support to people living with MS and their carers, including allied health, employment, nursing and NDIS services, expert advice, wellbeing programs and peer support.

Since 1956, MS Plus has proudly worked to raise awareness about multiple sclerosis and improve the lives of people affected by it.

Impact of the opportunity

This Executive Fundraising role reports directly to the CEO and serves on the Executive Team, providing fundraising insights to management and the Board through the Board’s marketing and fundraising committee, while also contributing to broader executive decision-making.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, innovative and inspiring fundraising leader who will thrive in a role that leads on the development of a diversified portfolio of revenue streams with a mandate to build new revenue streams from the ground up.

You will lead on crafting and implementing the organisation’s fundraising strategy and long-term fundraising vision. This role will lead a team of fundraising professionals, charity retail staff, and external partners, offering strong leadership, clear goals, and daily support to maximise the success of all fundraising initiatives for MS Plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation and implementation of both short-term and long-term fundraising plans with a focus on diversifying revenue streams
  • Development of all fundraising areas and teams to include events, partnerships, appeals, philanthropy and bequests
  • Build a robust fundraising program including the development of new programs such a major gifts and gifts in wills, focusing on the future proofing of revenue generation
  • Act as a key advocate for high-value donors, working to secure contributions from major individual donors, bequestors, and corporate sponsors
  • Manage, grow, motivate and inspire a top-performing team across fundraising, events, and retail areas to achieve the set fundraising goals
  • Stay up to date with best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes in the sector, maintaining strong connections with FIA and other industry leaders to keep MS Plus at the cutting edge of fundraising and technology
  • Lead the fundraising management team and collaborate with other departments to maximise donor lifetime value by effectively utilising donor data and insights
  • Ensures all budgets are adhered to, meeting fundraising objectives with the responsibility to report back to the CEO and Board on fundraising performance
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership and the board on all fundraising-related matters
  • Engage in fundraising discussions with external stakeholders, including MS Australia and other MS state organisations, to enhance collaboration and improve fundraising results for MS Plus and related entities in Australia

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive high-level fundraising leadership experience
  • A background in working across broad fundraising streams to include philanthropy, bequests, events and individual giving
  • Broad experience in managing and executing a comprehensive fundraising program
  • The ability to lead on the development of new revenue streams, building fundraising programs from the ground up
  • Proven history of growing and leading teams that have successfully increased fundraising revenue
  • An inspiring, passionate and motivating leadership style with the ability to develop cross functional teams
  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging trends in fundraising and technology across the sector
  • A data driven fundraiser with experience in database marketing and analysis, essential for strategic and operational decision-making
  • Experience of budget management and financial reporting with the ability to report back on fundraising performance to the CEO and Board
  • Highest levels of interpersonal and communication skills, with an established track record of influencing stakeholders at the highest levels
