The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

We are recruiting for a senior leader at Ahpra to work closely with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. This role can be based in any capital city with Melbourne being the preferred location. This position will also be required to travel frequently. This role is full time, contract for up to 5 years with the opportunity for extension.
About the role
The role of the Executive Officer is to work within the Ahpra leadership structures to provide high-level executive functions, leadership and guidance to the Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) and Ahpra .
The Executive Officer is responsible for facilitating the satisfactory delivery of agreed outcome of the between Ahpra and the National Board. The Executive Officer is also responsible for developing and managing key relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally and for maintaining the reputation and credibility of both Ahpra and the National Board.

You will be an experienced leader who has an excellent understanding of regulation in the public interest. You will showcase great leadership qualities, fostering a supportive and mentoring role to members of the Nursing and Midwifery team. Your communication style will be professional and collaborative as you manage and engage key stakeholders internally, externally, and cross functional areas in this role. - Significant experience in a statutory or public sector environment leading regulatory functions preferably in a national or cross-jurisdictional context.
- A high level of professional expertise in regulatory policy and the ability to integrate this expertise into the organisation to improve performance and ensure delivery of regulatory outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to apply legislative, policy and procedural requirements as they relate to a regulatory environment.
- Exceptional conceptual and analytical skills demonstrating an understanding of how to regulate in the public interest, with problem solving skills and capacity to provide robust advice to support decision making and good regulatory practice. .
- Demonstrated experience in managing a diverse team and the ability to develop a high performing, results driven culture within a hybrid working environment.
