Yellow Breeches Educational Center (YBEC) is a K-12 special education school that blends traditional academics with experiential and adventure-based learning. With small class sizes (6:1 in secondary, 4:1 in elementary), we provide personalized, hands-on instruction to support each student’s unique needs in an engaging, dynamic environment.
Are You an Out-of-the-Box Thinker?
We’re looking for creative, flexible educators who are eager to teach any core subject and engage students through interactive, real-world learning experiences. If you thrive in non-traditional classroom settings, enjoy the outdoors, and are hardworking, adaptable, and student-focused, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Innovative Teaching: Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered lesson plans in any core subject area (Math, Science, English, Social Studies, etc.).
- Flexible & Cross-Disciplinary Approach: Collaborate with fellow educators to design interdisciplinary, project-based learning experiences.
- Experiential Learning: Plan and lead weekly hands-on learning activities, field trips, career exploration experiences, college tours, and life skills development.
- Adventure-Based Education: Partner with our Adventure Teacher to facilitate weekly outdoor experiences such as mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUPing), hiking, and more!
- Annual Experiential Camping Trip: Assist in organizing and participating in a week-long outdoor adventure trip that builds resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree required (must be eligible for teacher certification).
- Ability to teach multiple subjects and adjust instruction based on student needs.
- A creative, outside-the-box thinker who enjoys hands-on and student-driven learning.
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to student success.
- Experience working with youth—especially in non-traditional, experiential, or outdoor settings—is highly preferred.
- A passion for adventure, experiential education, and innovative teaching methods.
