Yellow Breeches Educational Center (YBEC) is a K-12 special education school that blends traditional academics with experiential and adventure-based learning. With small class sizes (6:1 in secondary, 4:1 in elementary), we provide personalized, hands-on instruction to support each student’s unique needs in an engaging, dynamic environment.

We’re looking for creative, flexible educators who are eager to teach any core subject and engage students through interactive, real-world learning experiences. If you thrive in non-traditional classroom settings, enjoy the outdoors, and are hardworking, adaptable, and student-focused, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

• Innovative Teaching: Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered lesson plans in any core subject area (Math, Science, English, Social Studies, etc.).
• Flexible & Cross-Disciplinary Approach: Collaborate with fellow educators to design interdisciplinary, project-based learning experiences.
• Experiential Learning: Plan and lead weekly hands-on learning activities, field trips, career exploration experiences, college tours, and life skills development.
• Adventure-Based Education: Partner with our Adventure Teacher to facilitate weekly outdoor experiences such as mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUPing), hiking, and more!
• Annual Experiential Camping Trip: Assist in organizing and participating in a week-long outdoor adventure trip that builds resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree required (must be eligible for teacher certification).
• Ability to teach multiple subjects and adjust instruction based on student needs.
• A creative, outside-the-box thinker who enjoys hands-on and student-driven learning.
• Strong work ethic with a commitment to student success.
• Experience working with youth—especially in non-traditional, experiential, or outdoor settings—is highly preferred.
• A passion for adventure, experiential education, and innovative teaching methods.
