– Collect and analyse relevant data on DDT. – One draft assessment report prepared (approximately 30-40 pages with at least 10 graphs or tables). – Comments received during pre-meeting incorporated to the draft assessment report. – Finalize the conclusions and recommendations, taking into account the discussions during the DDT expert group meeting as well as other feedback received. – Finalize the report on the production and use of DDT and its alternatives, including a section on the status of the intersessional consultations, taking into account the discussions during the DDT expert group meeting as well as other feedback received. – Prepare and make at least one presentation during the pre-meeting in October 2024, prior to the 10th Expert Group meeting. – Prepare and make at least one presentation during the 10th DDT expert group meeting (approximately 10-15 slides presented during the meeting of about 50 minutes). – Provide support to the DDT expert group in its assessment before, during and after its 10th meeting. – Provide support to the intersessional process of consultations on a possible phase-out plan for DDT and prepare text for the report of the 10th meeting of the DDT expert group to report on the progress made since COP-11 (approximately 2-5 pages).

Duties and Responsibilities
The objective of the consultancy is to prepare a report on the production and use of DDT and its alternatives, to support the DDT expert group in its assessment, and to support the Secretariat in facilitating the intersessional process of consultations on a possible phase-out plan. The consultant will produce a report on the production and use of DDT and its alternatives and a draft phase-out plan. The performance indicators are the completion of activities within the time frame provided and the quality of the outputs specified in this JO.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) on a subject related to public health, tropical epidemiology, entomology or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. At least ten years of experience in integrated vector management (IVM), including extensive experience in working on DDT is required. Specialized/technical knowledge regarding the use of DDT for disease vector control, alternatives to DDT, pesticide management or related areas is required. Previous work in relation to the Stockholm Convention and familiarity with the work of the DDT expert group is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required.
