Danish Refugee Council (DRC)is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 550 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2023 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for aExplosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Facilitatorfor its activities inKyiv.

This position will report to the EORE Team Leader.

Overall purpose of the role:

Under the management EORE Team Leader, Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Facilitator is responsible for conducting conduct EORE sessions for adults, adolescents and children in accordance with the SOPs (standard operating procedures) of the DRC HDP, using standard and approved methods. As an EORE Facilitator supports the implementation of Training of Trainers (TOT) for local stakeholders, supports the implementation of seminars, working meetings, and other public events, on humanitarian mine action, organized by DRC. Maintains contact with local communities. He/she will be based in the DRC office in the city of Kyiv, with trips to the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr oblasts.

Main responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of activity work plans and follow them accordingly.
  • Comply with field coordination directions of EORE Team Leader and flag uncoordinated efforts to them.
  • Follow the given work plans and guidelines.
  • Actively participate in internal EORE team meetings and share pertinent updates.
  • Liaise with DRC HPD Humanitarian Demining, Non-Technical Survey, Victim Assistance, and other DRC sectors to ensure an integrated approach.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the context, including Explosive Ordnance (EO) contamination.
  • Implementation of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education
  • Conduct direct and online EORE sessions for adults, adolescents, and children according to DRC HDP SOPs, using standard and approved methodologies.
  • As a Training Assistant, support EORE Training of Trainers (TOT) for local stakeholders.
  • Support to HMA workshops, events, and other such public events, organized by DRC.
  • Support Community Liaison (CL) with local communities.
  • Distribute EORE informational materials as instructed.
  • Assists with the development of EORE (informational) materials, methodologies, and tools.
  • Comply with EORE SOP and TMP, flagging issues with its implementation to EORE Team Leaders.

Required experience and competencies:

  • University degree in Education or Pedagogy or in another relevant field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a humanitarian organization or an educational institution. Experience working with children, adolescent, and adult audiences, public speaking capacity.
  • Languages: fluent in Ukrainian and Russian languages, with at least a basic level of English.
  • Computer literacy: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office package (with focus on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Required education:
Completion of secondary school, or relevant level of experience required. University study preferred.
