Background
MAGENTA is a Social and Behavioural Change (SBC) strategic communications agency operating globally. MAGENTA specialises in understanding human decision-making processes to design communications solutions and capacity building interventions for sustainable and scalable positive change in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Using the latest in strategic communications principles, MAGENTA designs and implements strategy design, campaigns, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building interventions to support development actors, the private sector, and governments to achieve their communications objectives.
As part of a new project, MAGENTA is seeking a Kenyan data collection partner capable of collecting and analysing data in Garissa County related to immunization uptake.
Purpose
The objective of this Expression of Interest (EOI) is to request interest from firms to provide professional services to undertake data collection for a project aimed to increase the uptake of routine immunisation services among the nomadic population living in Garissa County.
This document outlines the essential requirements for data collection firms and the scope of work involved. Detailed information regarding the scope of work, terms and conditions, timelines, and methodology will only be provided to firms shortlisted based on the selection criteria outlined in this EOI.
MAGENTA welcomes eligible and experienced data collection firms located in Kenya to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) for the provision of data collection, including services for ensuring data quality, specifically in Garissa County concerning immunization uptake. The data collection firm is expected to collect data in 1000 households in Fafi, Dadaab, and Hulughno sub-counties in Garissa County. The survey is expected to take approximately 30 minutes
Expression of Interest
MAGENTA is seeking Expression of Interest from qualified Kenyan data collection contractors who will:
- Lead, manage and report on all data collection activities of the project on the ground.
- Develop data quality protocols and conduct data quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data collected.
- Conduct a comprehensive review and contextualization exercise of all instruments and research protocols that will be used in the field.
- Translate and back translate of the surveys and protocols from English to the local language.
- Programme and pre-test the programmed surveys for data collection in the field.
- Conduct community entry by obtaining necessary local permits required for the study and manage community exit procedures to close the project after data collection.
- Develop field protocols to guide field work. These include, but are not limited to,
protocols on research ethics during field work, protocols to guide data collection, field team training protocols, quality control protocols and troubleshooting protocols.
- Recruit local and experienced staff on the project specifying their roles and responsibilities in the project.
- Hire field team to conduct data collection activities effectively.
- Provide a work plan and timelines on the data collection activities.
- Participate in regular meetings and field visits as agreed upon by all partners.
Key Competencies
Firms expressing interest in this assignment must demonstrate that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to undertake the task. Shortlisting will be based on an analysis of the following information:
- Previous experience in conducting data collection activities, preferably in similar settings with comparable demographics (Arid and Semi-Arid Lands-ASALs).
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic data collection tools like SURVEYCTO and KOBO COLLECT.
- Evidence of successfully completing similar tasks, supported by references from previous clients or partners, to showcase capability and reliability.
- Ability to implement robust data quality assurance measures ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of collected data, including expertise in data cleaning techniques, error detection protocols, and validation checks.
- Knowledge of the local context, including cultural norms, community dynamics, and geographical landscape, to facilitate efficient interaction and rapport-building with study participants and stakeholders.
- Registration with relevant Kenyan authorities, including Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and compliance with tax obligations.
- No restrictions preventing them from conducting work in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) areas.
Submission
Expressions of Interests (EOI) must include:
- Company profile, addressing all key competency areas identified above
- Financial statement for the past three years
- At least three past projects including client, contract value description, date
- References from previous clients
- Certificate of Registration
- KRA Pin Registration Certificate
- Valid Tax Compliance Certificate
- Financial proposal in KES
