This is an exciting opportunity to enhance IDMC’s fundraising efforts and success, supporting the renewal of current funding partners and diversification of funding with new partners.

What we are looking for:

NRC is seeking a highly qualified “External Relations Specialist” with solid expertise in fundraising and grants management, and with experience working in the humanitarian and/or development sector.

What you will do:

Some of your specific responsibilities include:

  • Conduct outreach and cultivate relationships with existing and prospective partners.
  • Write high quality proposals for onward submission to donors.
  • Support development of fundraising marketing materials, including appeals, informational brochures, and corporate communications products. Conduct regular donor scans and maintain prospect and donor database based on research conducted, donor capacity and interest, new funding opportunities, and key donor contacts.
  • Alert management and programme teams to upcoming opportunities for funding.
  • Attend IDMC and external networking events for fundraising.
  • Provide support in organizing IDMC events for fundraising including its annual donor consultation.
  • Research and develop innovative strategies for fundraising.
  • Support maintenance of donor and prospect list in Salesforce.
  • Liaise with NRC’s Institutional Partnership Team and External Relations department as needed to enhance fundraising planning and success.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 7-10 years fundraising and grants management experience with experience working in the humanitarian and/or development sector. Field experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; fluency in French or German an advantage.
  • Preferred master’s degree in international Affairs or Development, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation, Communications, or other relevant studies.
  • Excellent organisational and computer skills; experience with fundraising or project management such as Salesforce software a plus.
  • Well documented professional experience with institutional and/or private donors in writing funding proposals and reporting, drafting budgets and monitoring donor commitments.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation and reporting against logical frameworks.

  • Duty station: NRC Geneva – Switzerland.
  • Contract: National permanent contract.
  • Salary/benefits: Grade 8 on NRC’s regional salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
