Salary: £13,766 per year (live-in) plus full board and lodging in a single room with all utilities.  

We are looking for a hands-on and skilled live-in Facilities Coordinator to join our facilities department here at Lee Abbey London –  a catered hall of residence for up to 160 international students staffed by a residential  community of Christians who live, work, worship and serve together.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Facilities Manager, you will be responsible to ensure all maintenance requests and regular PPM (planned preventative maintenance) tasks are arranged and completed in a timely manner and you will also be responsible for managing a Facilities Assistant.

This role is not only practical (a strong and versatile maintenance background is essential as you will be required to use necessary tools to fix issues on site), but also extremely service focused. The role is within a customer-facing environment, and you will be part of a team responsible for keeping and maintaining a student residence to the highest standards.

You must have excellent communication skills and a helpful, can-do attitude. As mentioned, this is a maintenance-orientated role as we prefer to complete as much work as possible internally, while providing a friendly, quick, and efficient service to the residents. So, to have the ability to be able to think on your feet, act responsibly and do what needs doing to a high level is essential.

Role responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Facilities Manager, your duties will include:

  • Maintenance (plumbing, painting, decorating, carpentry)
  • Managing the regular planned preventative work, and maintenance requests from students and managers.
  • Managing a Facilities Assistant who will be working with you to complete maintenance requests.
  • Providing a weekly update to the Deputy Facilities Manager and Facilities Manager.
  • Maintaining the residence to highest standards.
  • Adhering to the compliance requirements of the property and working safely with a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Liaising with contractors as required.
  • Providing excellent customer service.

About You:

  • Have knowledge and experience of facilities maintenance, particularly electrical.
  • Takes pride in delivering the highest standards of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Have experience with the health and safety requirements of a large property.
  • MUST be good working in a team.
  • MUST be able to handle instructions from managers as well as constructive criticism if things don’t go as planned.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proactive and able to work autonomously.
  • Must be available to work at weekends (1 in 4)
  • Be a practicing Christian
  • Be willing to join the Lee Abbey London Christian community as either a “live-in” or “live-out” member. This means participating fully in Lee Abbey’s Christian worship and outreach while supporting our ethos and values.
