Position Summary
The Washington University School of Medicine Operations & Facilities Management Department provides a range of services for the medical campus in a customer-focused, efficient, and sustainable manner.
Operations & Facilities Management maintains 61 university buildings and provides operational, planning, and construction services to over 8.3 million gross square feet of space. We will open three new facilities between 2023 and 2025 with over 1.5M BGSF. In addition, the School of Medicine continues expanding its reach on and off campus in teaching, clinical care, and research. Our team plays a vital and important role in delivering clinical care, research, and education.
The Facility Coordinator acts as the liaison for occupants and services and provides operational support. The Facility Coordinator is responsible for Transportation & Parking Services, minor facilities, garage, and surface lot maintenance tasks and will assist on larger projects as needed.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Point of contact for all Transportation & Parking facilities-related inquiries from the parkers, patients, and facility visitors.
- Submits and/or assists in submitting and following work orders and service tickets for all Transportation & Parking facility-related issues.
- Conducts daily custodial quality assurance of work completed by the custodial contractor of the facility.
- The Facility Coordinator will correct and report deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Completes routine assessment of the architectural and overall aesthetics of the facility for improvement opportunities.
- Information should be submitted and tracked to completion in a timely manner.
- Performs general custodial procedures as needed.
- Inspects all work areas and parking structures in accordance with the custodial service levels.
- Performs minor repairs to all lighting systems, including exit, emergency, and exterior lighting.
- Performs the repair of damaged parking equipment.
- Daily assessment of exterior grounds, identifying and correcting deficiencies related to Transportation & Parking facilities as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Must be able to lift and carry tools and materials weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of technical certificate or degree with two years of field-related experience.
- Obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E or Illinois Class D Driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Forklift certified and SKIDATA system knowledge.
- This position requires professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse upper management groups, external stakeholders, and entry-level staff.
- This individual must have the ability to work independently without supervision, exercise sound judgment in establishing priorities, willingness to work cooperatively as well as independently with a high level of organizational skill to be responsive to change and innovation, demonstrate a high level of attention to details, follow established procedures and maintain a very high degree of consistency. Ability to comprehend written and spoken English terms used in facility maintenance and custodial environment.
- Performs responsibilities with a positive approach, strong work ethic, dependability, and an ability to be flexible and think quickly in a multi-tasking environment.
- Displays good conflict resolution when dealing with peers and customers.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) and Adobe Acrobat.
- This position requires excellent time management and organizational skills, a conscientious approach, and a concern for quality.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma with a combined three years of experience in facility maintenance and the custodial industry.

G06-H
Salary Range
$17.52 – $26.27 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
