Salary Range: DOE and commesurate with documented experience. Initial base salary range is $20.00-$25.00/hr. Minimum of $20.00/hr to start. After a 3-month probationary period, stepwise salary increases based on performance evaluations.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, occasional overtime required.

About Us: Ecological Concerns Incorporated (ECI) is an ecological landscape and habitat restoration contractor and native plant nursery founded in 1992. ECI provides integrated design-grow-build landscape services in order to provide clients with turn-key project delivery. ECI works throughout the greater Monterey and San Francisco Bay areas.
1. Position description: The Facilities Manager manages all areas of the landscape construction yard & nursery facility. The Facilities Manager must display the management capability to effectively manage the yard so it lends maximum operational support for production personnel, and do so in a professional, courteous and friendly manner to all staff and customers. Daily responsibilities include fueling & performing scheduled maintenance on all vehicles and equipment, maintaining inventory and storage of all tools and materials (hand tools, irrigation parts, fuel, etc.), loading delivery trucks with needed materials for next day’s work and ensuring security of the yard and its contents.
2. Reports to: The Facilities Manager reports directly to the Owner & and is supervised by Project Managers and Nursery Manager to prioritize daily work.
3. Skill set and educational requirements: The Facilities Manager must possess the following skill set and educational background:
- Have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a mechanic work on vehicles and small engines.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy.
- Have a clean driving and criminal record.
- Legal documentation to verify employment eligibility.
- Physically able to handle the workload of a general laborer.
- Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
- Preferably bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Proficient in both oral and written communications.
- Proficient in or able to learn company truck, vehicle, and equipment GPS tracking systems.
- Proficient in inventory management/control of irrigation materials, hardscape materials, etc.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel spreadsheets.
- Capable of typing 30 WPM with fewer than three mistakes.
- Able to create an atmosphere of cooperation and professionalism among field personnel.
- Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
4. Responsibilities:
- Oversees, manages, and organizes entire yard & tool shed spaces in collaboration with others.
- Oversees the maintenance of all company truck, field equipment, and material inventory assets.
- Oversees fuel storage, dispensing, tracking, and inventorying.
- Trains, evaluates, and supervises all staff in proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles.
- Ensures inventory lists for all company trucks, vehicles, and equipment are current and in place for such things as:

- (1) Fire extinguishers.
- (2) Safety supplies
- (3) Accident reporting procedures and forms.
- (4) Fuel purchase credit cards.
- (5) Daily procedures for all drivers and operators.
- (6) Key maintenance checklist.
- (7) Security for all company trucks, vehicles, and equipment.
- (8) Registration and insurance verification cards.
- (9) First aid kits.
- (10) Spare tire(s), jacks, tow straps, etc.
- Monitors all trucks and field equipment to ensure their good working order and their being washed/cleaned weekly.
- Pre-loads delivery trucks in support of upcoming production schedule.
- Mobilizes field equipment in support of upcoming production schedule.
- Maintains an inventory and security of all stored materials.
- Receives and inspects shipments of all materials.
- Stores, issues and tracks bulk materials.
- Submits all bulk material issued to field crews to the accounting office for job costing purposes.
- Maintains key security for yard space and storage sheds.
- Inspects yard and facilities for fire hazards.
- Monitors company security system for effective surveillance of yard spaces.
- Pre-plans winter storage of all inventoried materials.
- Pre-plans winter storage of equipment not utilized in winter operations.
- Rearranges yard spaces for optimal access and use in support of winter operations.
- Receives and arranges storage of winter storage devices (tarps etc).
- Ensures all accidents are properly documented and reported immediately.
- Supervises key inventory for all company trucks, vehicles, and equipment.
- Ensures that accounting receives all paperwork on a timely basis.
- Ensures that company employee manual is up to date as it pertains to current equipment policies.
- Ensures that company safety manual is up to date as it pertains to current equipment policies.
- Ensures that all safety procedures are followed and that the yard is run safely.
- Ensures safety meetings attended weekly by all yard personnel and recorded appropriately.
- Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Writes, maintains and updates equipment SOPs (standard operating procedures).
- Maintains schedule identified in office checklist.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the company’s training goals.
- Is certified in CPR and First Aid.
- Continuing education requirement: minimum of 20 hours per year.
4. Appraisal criteria: The primary appraisal criteria for the Facilities Manager is to manage, in an efficient manner, all yard spaces to include the trucks, equipment, and materials inventoried therein in support of company production efforts.
