Summary of Job Duties:

The Facility Coordinator will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Donna Axum and UREC Fitness Centers as well as the HPER Natatorium. The position is responsible for hiring, training, and management of over 60 student employees in the areas of risk management, customer service, supervision, financial transaction processing, and facility inspections within the fitness center and aquatic spaces. This position is also responsible for the hiring, training, and management of swim lesson instructors. Additionally, this position is responsible for budget management including the two fitness center spaces and the swim lesson program. Assists with pool operations..
Develop, supervise, and evaluate over 60 fitness center student staff positions. Develop and enforce policies and procedures within facilities including program and staff manuals. Manage equipment, operations, and maintenance for all fitness centers. Ensure up to date maintenance of all equipment, preventative maintenance, and repair needs. Transport items between locations.
Develop, supervise, and evaluate approximately 10 swim lesson instructors. Oversee the quality and success of the swim lesson program. Assist the Assistant Director for Facilities with pool operations including swim meet management, reservations, and daily operations.
Prepare, forecast, and monitor all annual income and expenses for fitness centers and swim lesson program including payroll and maintenance.  Maintain comprehensive participation and program records for activity, semester, and annual reporting.  Be knowledgeable with program and departmental software application and website maintenance. Assess risk management and maintain program compliance.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in recreation, sport management, higher education, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least one year experience in recreation, collegiate/recreational sports, gym, or fitness center operations

  • Supervision of part-time staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in recreation, sport management, higher education, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least two-years’ experience in recreation, collegiate/recreational sports, gym or fitness center operations

  • Experience with pool operations

  • Water Safety Instructor certified

  • Lifeguard certified

Additional Information:

Salary Information:

$38,000 – $42,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
