tendersglobal.net

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking an ABR certified or eligible radiologist with subspecialty training in Pediatric Radiology or Oncologic Imaging for a full-time faculty position as the Section Chief of Body Radiology in the Department of Radiology. Faculty tracks include Clinical and Clinician-Scientist. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in pediatric oncologic imaging.

The Department of Radiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a focused pediatric radiology program dedicated to finding cures for childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases and is a recipient of the Quantitative Imaging Excellence (CQIE) designation. Our department encompasses six sections: Body Radiology, Neuroradiology, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Image Quantification and Artificial Intelligence (IQAI), and Radiologic Sciences. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional imaging across multiple modalities to guide diagnosis, interventions, and treatment response evaluation, while also driving innovative research to enhance patient care.

The Body Radiology section has a major focus on pediatric cancer imaging but also serves patients with sickle cell disease and other catastrophic childhood illnesses. Most patients are on a clinical trial, often funded by St. Jude, with opportunities to include body imaging endpoints into the trials. The reading room is staffed daily be two Body Radiologists. Multi-disciplinary conferences include Solid Tumor and Lymphoma/Leukemia on a weekly basis and other educational conferences on a monthly basis.

For the clinical service our common reading room is always fully staffed, with locums utilized as needed. Call duties are light. Teleradiology remote services are provided for after hours, weekends, and holidays with St. Jude radiologists providing back-up on an as needed and rotating basis. There is no trauma or emergency room. The clinical service includes a 3D imaging lab, tumor metrics (tumor response evaluation core lab) and advanced image processing lab, and support from three physicists who provide expertise for all imaging modalities. There is a major effort to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) solutions into our daily practice to support our faculty and enhance patient care. We utilize the latest advancements in equipment, with 4 state-of-the-art MRIs, ultrasound units, fluoroscopy suite, X-ray, expanded field-of-view PET/CT, SPECT CT, and 1 CT scanner to be replaced in 2024.

Our research covers a wide spectrum of imaging techniques, including functional MRI (fMRI), spectroscopy, metabolic imaging, structural and connectivity imaging, molecular imaging, and image quantification and artificial intelligence (IQAI). We provide a collaborative culture and mentorship in research and support travel to learn new skills and disseminate our findings. Our research team includes dedicated support staff for grant writing, scientific editing, IRB management, clinical research assistants, advanced image processors, software engineers, data scientists, and biostatisticians. We have a dedicated cyclotron, preclinical imaging research opportunities that include a small animal ultrasound, CT, whole-body PET-CT and ultra-high-field MRI. St. Jude is the only dedicated pediatric hospital with a state-of-the -art whole body PET CT scanner. A 3T MRI dedicated for human imaging research will be installed in FY2026.

The Image Quantification and Artificial Intelligence (IQAI) section is new and expanding and will include a program manager, scrum manager, software engineers, and data scientists with access to biostatisticians, grant writers, IRB support, and study coordinators. The IQAI is internally funded and intended to be a global leader in the research, development, and clinical validation of AI solutions for pediatric imaging. We will enrich our research and development efforts and clinical practice with academic-industrial partnerships and external advisors, and will responsibly share best practices, data, AI solutions, and our knowledge with collaborating institutions. We are building an intelligent imaging data warehouse (I2DW) and partnering with institutional data scientists to create a seamless scientific ecosystem.

The Department has a variety of educational activities. Trainees include clinical fellows, radiology residents, medical students, post-doctoral candidates, and graduate students. Our faculty are encouraged to disseminate our knowledge at regional, national, and international conferences, and are supported with travel funds. We host our own international educational conference annually.

St Jude compensation packages are highly competitive. Salary varies based upon faculty rank and are determined to be fair market value. Fair market value is dependent upon various factors including candidate experience, skills, certification. We support a variety of professional development and leadership opportunities, faculty wellness, and work-life balance. Clinician-Scientists may receive dedicated lab funding and permanent personnel.

We value teamwork, collaboration, innovation, diversity, wellness, and a happy work environment, and we lift one another up to reach our maximum potential.
