The Department of Psychology and Biobehavioral Sciences at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is recruiting for an open-rank clinically-focused faculty position. We are looking for a pediatric psychologist or health psychologist with interest and experience in working with children with catastrophic illness. The faculty appointment will have a majority of effort dedicated to clinical service and supervision of clinical trainees. The position can be filled at the Assistant, Associate or Full Faculty level, and can be within the Clinical track (20% protected research time) or the Clinician-Scientist track (40% protected research time) based on candidate preference and goals.
St. Jude is a tertiary care hospital focused on treatment of catastrophic illnesses of childhood including cancer, sickle cell disease and other hematologic disorders, HIV and other infectious diseases, endocrinology, and neurological disorders. Prior experience with these populations is desirable but not required. Also desirable are interests and expertise in cross-cutting issues of pediatric illness such as adherence, health behaviors, and early childhood development.
The Department includes 22 faculty across clinical, clinician-scientist and research tracks, and houses robust clinical and research training programs at the post-doctoral fellowship, doctoral internship, and graduate student practicum levels. The Department also maintains comprehensive clinical-research and data science resources. The Psychology Clinic is staffed by pediatric psychologists and neuropsychologists and masters-level examiners. A full range of consultation, intervention and assessment services are provided to St. Jude patients in the outpatient and inpatient settings. Psychology is a highly valued discipline within interdisciplinary care teams and is well-integrated into medical care. Candidates must have a PhD or PsyD in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-approved program with an APA- or CPA-approved doctoral internship. Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship in applied psychology is expected. The psychologist will be required to have licensure as a psychologist with Health Service Provider designation in the State of Tennessee.
