REGI is a non-profit organization dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned native bird species and public education on wildlife issues. REGI provides medical treatment, food, housing, and professional care to assure release back into the wild for over 800 birds annually. REGI boasts one of the largest flight training facilities in the world used to exercise large raptors and prepare them for release.

Job Description: REGI is looking for 1 hardworking, energetic, flexible, and fun intern with a passion for teaching for the fall of 2024. The intern’s main responsibilities will include assisting our education staff in the daily care of our Avian Ambassadors as well as on and off site public outreach programs. This includes but is not limited to:
- Daily husbandry (I.e. cleaning, enclosure maintenance, enrichment, etc),
- Handling and presenting with ambassadors ranging in size from Northern Saw-whet owls to Bald eagles and Turkey Vultures.
- Diet preparation and feeding
- Observing and keeping records of behaviors, weights, and equipment.
- Giving presentations and talks on a variety of raptor species to large groups of children and adults
Training will be provided for all these areas.
Extensive training is provided to all interns in the handling of our avian ambassador collection
Education interns will participate in on-site public raptor tours, and public outreach programs at libraries, schools, camps,and more!
Education interns will also have the opportunity to spend one day per week and evenings in the Rehabilitation Clinic assisting with the care and husbandry of patients.
Our internship consists of 5 day work weeks with 8-10 hour days. Animal care and Wildlife Rehabilitation is not your typical 9-5 job- Longer days are required for late programs, to care for babies, and admit sick and injured patients after hours if needed.

Housing/Stipend: There is a stipend of $75 per week provided and on-site, furnished housing will be provided by the Raptor Education Group, Inc.
Interns are required to reside on-site for full immersion in the wildlife rehabilitation experience.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in environmental education, wildlife, captive wildlife, biology, or closely related field. Other fields of interest will be considered.
- Strong interest in environmental education and captive wildlife care.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining daily tasks.
- Enjoys interacting with children and adults of all ages; Strong communication skills
- Willing to be a positive, enthusiastic member with a strong work ethic.
- Willing to represent the mission and goals of our organization in a way that reflects positively on REGI.
- Intern should be able to adapt to flexible hours and schedules depending on programmatic needs and bird care needs.
- Interns will be required to work and teach outdoors in all weather conditions. Physical demands include being on your feet 8+ hours per day, kneeling, and lifting 50 lbs.
Dates: Mandatory orientation date August 20th, 2024. Internships typically run through October. Ending date is flexible.
