Join the Education team at Acadia National Park. As a Fall SEA Environmental Educator, you will be living and working in the Schoodic District of Acadia, working primarily with our multi-day education program for 5th through 8th grade students. Educators teach with the middle school overnight experiential education program known as the Schoodic Education Adventure (SEA) program.

This position runs August 24 – November 13, 2026

The majority of the Environmental Educator position is involved with the Schoodic Education Adventure (SEA) Program, which offers a curriculum-based residential education program for 5th through 8th grade students. The three and four-day programs combine hands-on field experiences with some classroom activities. Students are introduced to the concept of stewardship and explore the relationship between preserving public lands and monitoring natural resources. With a strong environmental education curriculum based in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) students participate in hands-on field-based activities.

The Schoodic District also offers public programming focusing on the natural and cultural history of Acadia National Park. Environmental Educators will be involved with delivering and creating programming for the public.

Responsibilites include:  

  • Independently leading field based, outdoor education programs in a wide variety of subject areas
  • Assisting with dorm check in/out
  • Assisting in meal service
  • General upkeep of marine tank, buildings, and program materials
  • Leading interpretive table talks and programs
  • Developing and delivering children’s activities
  • Roving — contacting park visitors and providing informal interpretation
  • Assisting with auxiliary programs

Environmental Educators will be expected to: 

  • Work 40 hours per week (typically four 10-hour shifts/week).
  • Participate in pre-program training, work as a member of the interpretation/education team and attend weekly staff development/logistical meetings.
  • Contribute to all aspects of the operation of the Interpretation/Education District through other duties as assigned.
  • Postively represent the National Park Service and Schoodic Institute as a member of the interpretive and education staff.
